New system of birth registration from May 2010
A new system for registering births will be used from today in the Women’s Hospital, the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) announced yesterday.
The system is intended to simplify and speed up the procedure for issuing birth certificates.
Nationals can register births at the Women’s Hospital, and the certificate will be issued at the premises of the SCH. Expatriates will be able to collect the certificate at the Women’s Hospital on the very day of registration if they furnish the required documents.
Expatriates wishing to register a child born in Qatar are required to produce copies of the passports of the mother and the father, a valid residence permit (or entry visa for non-residents), a copy of the vaccination card and a copy of the marriage contract. A fee of QR20 will be charged for each birth certificate.
