Gulf /Doha Cinema to be Demolished
An ambitious plan is underway to construct a “new generation” complex, consisting of multiplexes and other facilities at the present site of the Gulf and Doha Cinema Complex, Najma.
The feasibility study on the project has been completed and the company is working out its financing options, Qatar Cinema and Film Distribution Company (QCFDC) general manager Mohsen el-Mokhadam told Gulf Times.
“Even though, we cannot say for certain when the new complex will be set up, it is sure to come in the place where the present twin-theatre complex is located,” el-Mokhadem revealed.
The company is considering the new project in view of its increasing real estate value, he said.
The company’s twin-tower residential and commercial project, currently under construction at the site where Amir Cinema was earlier located, is scheduled for opening in end July, el-Mokhadem said.
The complex, which consists of 129 flats, is one of the largest residential apartments in the city, he added.
The senior company official said its cinema halls at The Landmark, which were shut for renovation, had reopened last month and have started attracting good attendance.
