Two locals fined for reckless driving reckless, driving, fines

Two motorists have been slapped with a fine of QR10,000 each for “showing off their driving skills” which led to a head-on collision between their cars.

The locals, aged 31 and 21, were injured in the crash which took place in a desert area on January 23 last year, but they gave up any compensation claim in the court. The older suspect told the court that he was driving at 80kph when the accident occurred.

A traffic officer told the court that both the accused were “equally responsible” for the accident and that it was avoidable.  The duo was also convicted of “reckless driving end endangering public safety and property”. Their driving licenses were suspended for three months.
