Maids in Qatar

An interesting and emotional article by our friend at QatarVisitor.

Servants' Stories - Maids in Qatar

The first few months Usri worked in Qatar were fine.
"Madam was kind," said the Indonesian girl. "She never shouted or was angry."
However, life for the servant soon changed after her employer got married.
"The master was crazy. He would lose his temper with his wife, and then it would fall on to us. He would smash glasses and throw plates, and shout at us. He would get angry because we did not speak Egyptian Arabic, and he did not speak Qatari. When we were in the car he would drive at 150 km an hour, and we were involved in several accidents. Once, after he got in a fight following a road accident, he came home bleeding.
"
"He called us animals," said her friend, Indrawati. "Dog, cow, camel, other names... he would expect his boots cleaned at five in the morning, at any time he came home his boots had to be cleaned, and if they weren't he would be furious."

When the world pushes you to your knees, your are in the perfect position to pray.

these are horrific stories, i am always upset with the way maids are treated in this country, I dont know were the mercy of Islam has gone from this people's hearts.

I am sure people who are abusing claim to be Muslims. but they forgot what the prophet (pbuh) said about paying the wages.  here is a reminder hadith Qudsi.
"On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that Allah the Almighty said: 'There are three whose adversary I shall be on the Day of Resurrection: a man who has given his word by Me and has broken it; a man who has sold a free man nd has consumed the price; and ; and a man who has hired a workman, has exacted his due in full from him and has not given him his wage." (Bukhari)

pity those unfortunate souls.............. Its very difficult to view high rise buildings and world class facilities with one eye and worker, sponsor related issues with the other.
well said Jim, although if they were real practising muslims they wouldnt be behaving this way.
Be who you are, and say what you feel...Because those who matter...don't mind...and those who mind...don't matter." -Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss)
if they were practising muslims... then life would not be stressful enough or unsatisfactory to expel the anger on the weaker ones.
