InterContinental plans two beach parties

DOHA: The Doha InterContinental Hotel has undergone renovation and planned exciting activities for guests this summer. The hotel will also open another restaurant soon, it announced.

“The hotel has planned two big beach parties this May. One is on May 14, which will include DJs with fire shows, acrobatics and great music for music lovers. We will build a huge stage, with riggings and lights… On May 22, we have invited international entertainer Akon to perform here at our hotel. This invite is pending approval from the Qatar side. I am very happy that a big star like Akon is considering coming to Doha,” said Michael Koth, general manager of the Doha InterContinental Hotel.

Koth said the hotel had carried out a lot of renovation to prepare the InterContinental beach for the guests. “We had huts made of wood built along the beach, and we have planted around 20 palm trees to make the place look more attractive for our customers.”

The hotel will soon open a brand new restaurant, said Koth, which will be located near the pool. He said he will leave further details for later.

Koth said around 70 guests came to Doha during the course of the InterContinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) 10-day roadshow around the GCC. The roadshow, which kicked off in Saudi Arabia on April 27, aims to “promote the key properties of the IGH and highlight their international presence and strength as a brand.”

“We communicate with travel buyers who are our most valuable asset, as it helps build confidence and strengthens relationships… we inform business buyers of our existence,” said Koth, who has been with Doha InterContinental since August 2007.

“We are getting very positive feedback about the roadshow,” he said.
