Internship for students of journalism
DOHA: The Doha Centre for Media Freedom is forging a partnership with Medill School of Journalism, part of Northwestern University, Illinois in line with its slogan, ‘Building Tomorrow’s Media.’ “As a part in Building Tomorrow’s Media, we are happy to provide internship for journalism students. We have been in coordination with the university from the beginning to commence this partnership,” Sara Kianpour, spokesperson, Doha Centre for Media Freedom told The Peninsula.
Three students are presently under an internship programme with the centre, said Kianpour.
The Medill School of Journalism, part of Northwestern university’s Qatari campus, due to be officially opened today under the patronage of H H Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, welcomes its first intake of students from Qatar and other countries this year.
“Our goal is to make these students responsible journalists in the society. It’s an opportunity for them to find out about the challenges against media freedom. As future journalists, they will be in a better position to defend the right to freedom of information and keep the society informed,” said Kianpour.
