the excellence of the prayer

The Excellence of the Prayer
and its Wiping away of Sins and Evil Deeds

Narrated Abu Huraira (radh) that Allah's Messenger alaihis salaatu was salaam said:
The five daily Prayers, and the Jumu'ah to the Jum'uah are an expiation for what is
between them, as long as one is not guilty of major sins

From Anas ibn Maalik (radh) , who said that Allah's Messenger (sal) said:
Indeed there is for Allah an angel who proclaims at every Prayer :
O children of Aadam !
Stand up to the fire which you have ignited and extinguish it.

From Salmaan (radh) that when he was with Allah's Messenger (sal) beneath a tree,
he (sal) took a dried twig from the tree and shook it until its leaves fell off, then said :
O Salmaan! Will you not ask me why I did this?
I said : And why did you do it? He (sal) said :
When the Muslim makes wudoo and does it well,
then he prays the five daily Prayers,
his sins fall away just as these leaves fall away,
and he said :
"And offer Prayers perfectly at the two ends of the day
and in some hours of the night.
Verily, good deeds remove evil deeds.
That is a reminder for the mindful."
(Surah Hud, ayah 114)

From Uthmaan (radh), who said that  Allah's Messenger (sal) said :
There is no Muslim upon whom the obligatory Prayer becomes due,
so he perfects the wudoo, humility and attentiveness (khushoo') and the bowing (rukoo'),
except that it is an expiation for the sins coming before it
as long as he does not commit a major sin.
This applies all the time.

From Ibn Umar (radh), who said that Allah's Messenger (sal) said :
When the worshipper stands up in Prayer
all his sins are brought and placed upon his head and shoulders.
So whenever he bows and prostrates, they fall from him.

From Thawbaan (radh), who said that Allah's Messenger (sal) said :
Remain upon the Straight Way,
which you will not be able to do fully (except with Allah's help),
and know that the best of your actions is the Prayer,
and no one gives care and attention to the wudoo except a Believer.

From Abu Hurairah (radh) who said that Allah's Messenger (sal) said :
The Prayer is the best of what has been prescribed,
so he who is able to perform a great deal of it
then let him do so.

Also from Abu Hurairah (radh), that Allah's Messenger (sal) passed by a grave and said :
Who is the occupant of this grave?
They said : So and so. He said :
Two rak'ahs would be more beloved to him than the rest of your world.
